I recently decided to take the plung and try to get more use from my original XBOX. I started by using the softmod that you can find in the #xbins IRC channel on EFnet. I used an Action Replay device to get the files to the xbox and a copy of Splinter Cell that I bought used from a local game store. After installing the softmod, I installed XBOX Media Center binary from t3ch. I’m in XBOX media heaven. Highly recommended.

I saw a link on LifeHacker for a new firmware for Linksys WRT54G routers called Tomato. I’ve been having issues with my current firewall/router implementation so I bought a new WRT54GL, the Linux version of the WRT54G from NewEgg and installed Tomato right away. I couldn’t be happier! Definitely worthwhile if you have a compatible router/firewall/WAP.
